The ACA Changes the Game
Abstract
Exciting opportunities on the horizon could allow Philadelphia’s Community Development Corporations and hospitals to work together to achieve healthier, safer and more equitable communities. The passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010 brought sweeping changes to our nation’s healthcare system, providing access to healthcare for millions of formerly uninsured Americans. One critical, but often overlooked, feature of the reform addresses how hospitals maintain their nonprofit status.
