Abstract

Dubai's rapid development relies heavily on its industrious labor force. Unfortunately, these workers often face tough conditions. In response, people and organizations in Dubai are pioneering advanced technology to promote worker safety and quality of life. Initiatives like Emirates Global Aluminium's 'Beat the Heat' program and WakeCap's smart helmets are revolutionizing workplace safety by preventing heat-related illnesses and providing real-time monitoring. Additionally, platforms like PotentiAI and Smart Labour are empowering workers with tools for career advancement and personal development. By sharing its successes and promoting international collaboration, Dubai can inspire a global movement towards prioritizing worker well-being and opportunities.

Author Biography

Dorothy Jane Thomas, University of Pennsylvania

Dorothy is a dedicated leader with a Master of Science in Nonprofit Leadership from the School of Social Policy and Practice at the University of Pennsylvania. Her education has equipped her with a proficient understanding of designing and implementing strategies to drive substantial social progress through thoughtful, inventive, and meaningful work in the public sector.

 

As a Leader and Counselor at The Dubai City Church, and as an Ambassador of Metro World Child Dorothy has made significant contributions to the global community. Dorothy has advocated for worldwide social progress and empowered the expat community in the UAE by assisting in the development of personal empowerment programs and platforms to educate individuals to improve employment opportunities. She has additionally offered them support by sharing networks, organising community gatherings, speaking at events, counselling sessions, and beyond to help them overcome various challenges, such as legal issues, career roadblocks, and health issues.

 

Dorothy's commitment to social change is evident through her extensive work in empowering individuals and fostering community development.
